Chapter 8 Methodologies, Analytical Tools and Technologies used in ICAM

The participants will have a clear understanding of:

z      the number of methodologies, analytical tools and technologies used to assess and study the coastal area.

z      the many techniques that are available with which to analyse the coastal area.

z      these techniques and tools which include inventory methods, such as land evaluation, sustainable livelihoods and sustainable development, traditional ecological knowledge and environmental impact assessment (EIA).

z      these techniques and tools can be used in combination or not, depending on the aims of the particular study.

z      that the presentation of these tools are not necessarily presented linearly.
