Slide 17: Climate space modeling, bioclimatic modeling, niche modelling
In order to study how climate changes might have affected the niches of vegetation types using a simple method known as bioclimatic modelling. The current distribution of a vegetation type is correlated with various climatic factors. Using this correlation in a GIS system, a "performance envelope" can be obtained. This allows the movement of the envelope in response to climate change to be mapped in a GIS.
