Extinction

Extinction also occurred during the late Triassic where most of the marine life disappearing except the Ichthyosaurs and the Plesiosaurs, brachipods, gastropods and molluscs were also greatly affected. The earth started to divide into continents forming the South America, Gondwana and Eurasia7. There was also much volcanic activity that affected the life. Most of the huge herbivores died owing to their great weight and couldn't escape the volcanic activity. The Cynodont could burrow and so was able to escape this extinction even though some died. The Coelophysis also escaped due to its mobility. Also due to cannibalism and the lack of water only those animals that could survive the harsh conditions also survived3, 6.
