The Triassic Period

The Triassic period can also be divided into three parts namely Early Triassic, middle Triassic and the late Triassic5. In the beginning of this period there was the Permian-Triassic extinction where it is believed that most of the life on earth became extinct (around 250 million years ago). It is thought that 70% of all the earth vertebrates became extant and also 90% of the marine life5. This is thought to have been caused by volcanic eruptions, plate tectonics (joining of the continents) volcanism, and release of hydrogen sulphide to create a green house effect among other5.
