Echinoderms: Penta-symmetrical creatures of the oceans

Another group of animals that had diverged from early stage and also reached immense sizes are the crinoids or sea lilies which belong to the phylumEchinodermata. These animals have an architecture plan that is based on a five-fold symmetry and possess large lime plates that occur just below the skin. Fossilcrinoids were up to 20 m long, although their present day counterparts are considerably reduced in both size and species diversity.
